We announce with pride that on November 27 Professor Jan Styczeń from Niewodniczanski Institute of Physics Polish Academy of Sciences Krakow was awarded the officer insignia of the important French honour - National Order of Merit.
The ceremony took place in the Consulate General of the Republic of France in Krakow (also the French Institute). The French State awards were received by three representatives of culture and science - a dancer and choreographer Romana Agnel, a physicist Professor Jan Styczeń and a translator and writer Professor Adam Wodnicki.
The medals were awarded by the French ambassador to Poland, Pierre Buhler.
The Ambassador emphasised that the Order was given to Prof. Styczen in appreciation of his important contribution to deepen the French-Polish scientific cooperation in the field of nuclear physics. Prof. Jan Styczeń was the Polish coordinator of the Franco-Polish Convention concerning Polish institutes cooperation with the French National Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics CNRS / CEA for eleven years.
