The Scientific Council of the ELAMAT Consortium, which prepares the proposal to site IFMIF-DONES facility in Poland, has issued a White Book Report on on the Complementary Scientific Programme at IFMIF-DONES.
The members of the Scientific Council representing different branches of science were led by Prof. Adam Maj of IFJ PAN, the chief editor of the report. The report includes a general introduction and description of the IFMIF-DONES neutron facility. Main part of the report is the collection of science cases for the Complementary Program ordered by scientific domain: applications of medical interest, nuclear physics and radioactive ion beam facility, basic physics studies and industrial application of neutrons. The intention of the authors was to demonstrate that many foremost topics and questions of todays science in several active fields of research could be addressed and investigated at the IFMIF-DONES without compromising its main role of a material irradiation facility for the fusion programme. It is hoped that such demonstration will raise interest and bring support for the construction of IFMIF-DONES and that elements of the complementary science programme will be incorporated into the original programme of the facility.
