Workshop “Science at ESS”

On December 17, 2021 an Institute Workshop will be held in the IFJ PAN Auditorium, dedicated to the prospects of conducting research with the use of neutron beams delivered by the European Spallation Source (ESS), the world's brightest neutron source, currently under construction. Poland is one of the Founding Members of the European Spallation Source ERIC, and it contributes to the construction of ESS, to much extent through the expertise of IFJ PAN engineers of international renown in accelerator technology. The construction phase is coming to an end and it is time to prepare the research teams for research at ESS.

Therefore, at IFJ PAN, we are planning a number of initiatives and forums for the exchange of ideas. The first event of this type will be a one-day Institute Workshop on December 17, 2021, with a lecture by the Scientific Director of ESS, prof. Andreas Schreyer. The framework program of this event is available at:

For those who cannot participate in person in the workshop, a remote version of participation will be available via the ZOOM platform (starting at 9:00 am):

The workshop replaces the weekly Thursday Institute seminar on 16/12/2021, and it should be of interest to all IFJ PAN research staff, in particular from the Divisions NO2, NO3, NO5, NO6.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Workshop.
