We are looking for a motivated person for a 3-year position in the frame of a Horizon Europe MSCA-Doctoral Network (DN) program (funded by EU, GA: 101168976) entitled “Autonomous Scanning Probe Microscopy for Life Sciences and Medicine powered by Artificial Intelligence (SPM4.0)” that involves 10 research centers/academic institutions and 3 companies from Spain, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, and UK.
Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary (i.e., in Poland) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date.
The host is the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences.
PhD topic:
Identification of cytoskeletal components responsible for mechanics and rheology in pancreatic cancers
Artificial intelligence is driving the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, transforming many areas of society, including science and technology. Nanoscopy, recognized as a cornerstone of research and production in nanotechnology-based products, is one of the fields most rapidly adopting artificial intelligence. The topic of the doctoral dissertation will be the identification of cytoskeletal elements in pancreatic cancer cells responsible for changes in mechanical and rheological properties. The study will aim to measure biophysical properties (elasticity, rheology, adhesion) and structural characteristics using microscopic methods (atomic force microscopy, structured illumination, and fluorescence microscopy). Data analysis and the interpretation of microscopic images of cellular structures will also be performed using machine learning tools. The results obtained will provide insights into the role of specific cytoskeletal elements in altering the deformability of pancreatic cancer cells.
