Competition, during which volunteers will face each other in solving physical puzzles. Planned prizes. The quiz will be conducted via the Kahoot platform. Please install the Kahoot application on your own phone in advance. The manual will be attached at a later date.

Young Engineer Workshops

* Obowiązkowa rejestracja - details

16:00, 16:45, 17:30 (in Ukrainian), 18:15, 19:00, 19:45, Sala Studium Doktoranckiego

Workshop participants will be able to see how they work by building simple devices. The lecturers will discuss the physical phenomena used in these devices. After the classes are finished, the devices you have built can be taken home. Workshop topics will be announced at a later date. Registration for the Workshops is obligatory.

Outside

15:00 – 22:00, Tents situated in front of the main building of the Institute

Tents of IFJ PAN Scientific Departments - Tents of IFJ PAN Scientific Departments - Presentation of the achievements of the IFJ PAN main departments in tents set up in the open air. Meetings with scientists, presentations of physical experiments.

CREDO tent - The latest achievements in recording particles from space will be presented. Little is known about the fact that every second we are bombarded with particles that were formed in the Earth's atmosphere after colliding with particles - travelers created millions of years ago and traversing the vastness of the universe to finally reach us. The observatory in which scientists work: Pierre Auger in Argentina, with the area of an average province in Poland, will be shown. You will also be able to participate in catching particles yourself - using, for example, your smartphone by joining the CREDO project at the IFJ PAN. Thanks to this, each of us, from a student to a pensioner, can become a scientist - a co-author of perhaps fundamental discoveries. Maybe it will also help to warn people about the impending earthquake or explain the origin of some diseases, the sources of which we do not know yet? The study of particles from space has a huge future and it is important that we can all do it here and now.

Eavesdropping on satellites - Eavesdropping and recording of photos from weather satellites flying over IFJ PAN using a simple TV card for a computer and a piece of wire as an antenna. We will also follow signals from planes flying around Krakow.

15:00 – 21:00

CONSTRUCTOR's tent (15:00-20:00) - A special place for children and others, where participants will be able to build simple models of physical devices (such as: spectroscope, hovercraft, periscope, kaleidoscope) and take them home. Participants will learn how the devices made by them work. We hope it will awaken their curiosity in further exploring the world. In addition, you will be able to try your hand at the role of a constructor of interesting buildings made of blocks. There are prizes for the most agile constructors.

Tatuaż z fizyką w tle - Mini water tattoo parlor (washable).

Experience demonstrations

* Mandatory e-mail registration for groups (according to the order of applications) - details

„Physics tricks”

15:00, 17:00, 19:00, Auditorium

A show of physical experiments in which nature reveals its magical face. The presenters of the demonstrations will discuss the presented experiences in an accessible way. Together we will find answers to questions about the shows. There will be prizes for those who are active during the shows. Registration for the Show is obligatory.

Women of Science

21:30, Aula IFJ PAN

An interactive lecture in which participants choose a path to be followed by the tutor. During the meeting, you will hear stories about outstanding women of science and their achievements. It will also be the story of how some of the discoveries have been unfairly attributed to the men who won the Nobel Prize for it. Come and meet the women who have changed the face of science.

Physics & Music

20:00-20:30, Main entrance

Certain noises made by the means of transport can be recorded by using notes. Reading them is also a means of social communication - this is what we learn in solfege lessons. But what exactly do we write down? We will see that the relationship between musical notation and the physical properties of sound is not simple at all. The most interesting thing is that it is still unknown what the biological role of this compound is. Maybe we will discover it together during the meeting on the occasion of the Małopolska Scientists' Night.

SMR REACTORS AND THE POLISH NUCLEAR POWER PROGRAM (PPEJ)

16:00, 18:00, Aula IFJ PAN

Small modular reactors (SMRs) have recently become a topic that has often been present in the media space and public debate. However, there are often imprecise definitions of the SMR concept. One of the aims of the lecture is the attempt to sort out these issues and, consequently, better understanding of the problem. The arrival of SMR reactors on the market enables a different view on nuclear energy. Nuclear technology exporters, potential importers and private investors are interested in SMRs. The advantages and wide application possibilities can make this new type of reactor play an important role in projects such as decarbonization. During the lecture, various meanings of the SMR term and the history of the development of such solutions will be discussed. Students will learn about the development and global situation of SMRs in the world and the possibilities of using nuclear energy from such reactors in terms of energy and heat. An important aspect is the economy of SMRs and barriers to their entry into the market. The issues of SMR reactors in the context of the Polish Nuclear Power Program will also be discussed.

Escape room

* From 16 years old, registration at the point in front of the entrance to the main building; team game for 3-4 people

16:00-21:00, Basement of the building 0, co pół godziny; czas trwania gry: 30 min (+5 na dojście)

Professor W. Spaniały examines in a very unusual way: it is enough to give him a piece of paper with the appropriate grade. There is only one catch - the cards are hidden in boxes, the opening of which requires a code. Each subsequent assessment (3, 4, 5) is a new puzzle (based on physical effects) to be solved. What grade will you be able to get? You only have half an hour! Prizes await the winners.

Alice in the land of particles

* groups of max. 8 people, Registration required

15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00, 21:00

What was the matter of the Universe just after Bing Bang? Is the same matter inside the cores of Neutron Stars? The scientists from the ALICE experiment at the LHC try to answer these questions. You are all invited to see the work of the ALICE experiment via virtual google. Have a lot of fun!

Physicists couch

17:00-21:00, Main entrance

A place where you will be able to talk about physics in an interesting and quiet way with the employees of IFJ PAN

Outdoor game

17:00-21:00, IFJ PAN area (przewidywany czas trwania 40-60 minut)

SCIENTIFIC APPROACH
A field game in the convention of a "city game" based on the laws and physical phenomena encountered in everyday life, organized at the IFJ PAN. Participants will be equipped with a map of the Institute, which will allow them to reach the competition tasks. Correct solution will reveal the place of the next task. Prizes await the winners who complete the game

Godzina: 15:00-22:00, Budynek nr 1

A trip into the past IFJ PAN. An exhibition of old measuring instruments, computer components, photos. You can see how our Institute was created, how science was conducted there, what instruments were used, and with what devices the calculations were made. The exhibition is located in the building, built at IFJ and operating since 2000, the cyclotron AIC144, in rooms that are themselves the history of the Institute. Everyone interested in history is invited to a trip into the past and present
